Out of curiosity, do greenstuff require a bedding in/curing process like the M1144 do? I sometimes wonder if the varied opinions of M1144 might (in part) be down to people not following the correct procedure.

Love the dip-stick sensor! But I've already got a screw-in one. Thanks for the tips guys. I'd like to fit it prior to piping in the cooler for comparison purposes. I'll mull it over. Cheers, Sam

Title says it all really. I'd like to temporarily fit an oil temp gauge to the car, mostly to see what effect it has when I plumb the oil cooler in. So where's the best place to fit the sender? I guess having a boss brazed into the sump side would be the favorite?

Mintex M1144 on the Spitfire, I've always been very happy with their performance.

The rigid channel I posted a picture of is a standard Land Rover part.

What type? SU Solex Stromberg Weber? Looking at your sig it says you have spitfire 1500 - so I guess twin SU hs4? Point 7 onwards here is probably a reasonable guide: http://www.mgexp.com/article/su-tune.html

And to confuse me even further... 7/16 UNF fits great on the 2 ball joints on the Spitfire, but NOT the spare I had on the bench that I was measuring?! Sod it.
-
Just to follow up... part number is (I think) GHF224 - 7/16 UNF @ 5/8" AF. 🤔

Anyone know what thread the top ball joints on the spitfire etc are? From my measurements it looks like the ones I have are M12x1.25 ? Does that sound right? That doesn't seem to fit with the spanner size - I thought I used 5/8" AF - making it 7/16UNF but that seems to small. I think I'm confusing myself and should take a rest!

Only just got round to doing the return booking, 2pm sailing on 10th is fully booked so we opted for the 4pm.(we're going out a day early on the overnight from Hull)

I seem to remember when I ordered a kit for the spitfire it showed as out of stock on Canley's site, but I received it fairly promptly. Maybe worth giving them a call to get some idea of lead time?

The roof line into the boot area looks more like Ashley GT than GT6.

Make that 6 teams Tim - thanks for the tip off, we were struggling to find somewhere around there at a reasonable price.

We're on the overnight on Monday from Hull, but will probably book the 14:00 back.

Pretty much what I've been thinking since I saw the images! It's vaguely reminiscent of an SDS drill shank.

Teenage Kicks?

Damn, just double checked the date.... double booked. Sorry, we can't make it our first rally after all!

Cool! Found a couple in the 1974 directory (I picked that as it's the year I was born!) I know one of them, it's a Tesco now. The other might be a used car place, but the information isn't specific enough to locate without some more research.

Hi Steve, out of interest have you got any info on Triumph Dealers in the Halifax West Yorkshire area? I tried a bit of amateur digging but only turned up info on Rootes group places. Cheers, Sam

I consider myself very lucky. A few weeks of stress wondering... only a small window on the world of people who aren't so lucky. Can't imagine what it's like for people who are not as fortunate (or their families)

A couple of years ago I was mis-diagnosed with sarcoma. Scary times, fortunately for me about 6 weeks later I was re-diagnosed with a benign tumour.

Not much help, but I think Andie and I will probably stay near Ypres, we'll go over on the overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge spend the day in Belgium and see the Menin Gate ceremony.

I got a tub of graphite grease to do my rear spring - just because the manual said so! If it hadn't specified I'd have used a marine white grease (it tends to stick and last better than a moly grease)
