  1. All the BEST people have an 1850! Me? Biased? Not at all! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Nice colour, not as good as Honeysuckle though.
  2. My guess based on the description would be input shaft or leyshaft bearings. Sorry I can't recommend anyone in that area. Maybe give Mathewsons in Thornton-le-dale a call and see if they can recommend anyone? Or alternatively see if you can source an exchange recon box and get a local place to quote for a gearbox change rather than the repair?
  3. All available garage time recently has been soaked up by non-Triumph work, keeping my eldest daughter's little Suzuki running (clutch change). ๐Ÿ˜ž
  4. Shocking and deeply deeply sad news. Paul always made us feel welcome as a family when we first started attending P+P meetings, making the effort to talk to Andie and the kids about non-Triumph stuff. Farewell to one of life's true gentlemen.
  5. @logicaluk You know of any parts cars that might be able to help out with panel sections for this?
  6. I have to wonder what people on you side of the pond think of an Acclaim!? Nice collection of Triumphs and welcome to the forum!
  7. Anyone got a recommendation for brand/type of wiper blade that's suitable for a Spitfire 1500 that works well? I've tried a few different ones and never been totally happy with the amount of flex across the screen - they all seem too rigid.
  8. Hi Mike, I had a similar issue on my Spitfire a few years ago. On mine when I stripped the valve out it was difficult to move by hand (but possible). I free'd it off a bit and got it working via the cable "ok" but ended up replacing it for a new one which seemed stiff but better.
  9. I found it by going to unread content and it showed McJim's new posts for me... which led me to: https://www.clubtriumph.co.uk/gallery/category/18-round-britain-reliability-run/
  10. Maybe both, depends on the BR details

  12. Good stuff, thanks Mike. I'll get them ordered.
  13. Thanks Clive, if true it sounds promising.
  14. I'm tracking down some bearings for a single rail gearbox build and trying desperately to avoid buying no-brand rubbish for the rms8n/MJ1NR/MS10K/104433 front/rear snap-ring bearings. I've been offered Hoffman C3 or FAFNIR bearings so far.... any idea if the Fafnir are any good? Cheers, Sam
  15. We need somebody called Victor to sign up for it... that'd be a Vic-Tree-V! ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. Signed up and paid once, @Darren Sharp, thanks for posting the URL - I spent some time hunting around the FBHVC website without finding it. I think once the Dolomite is on the road I'll sign up and pay again. It spreads the cost and would easily cover my projected mileage this year that way.
  17. That's superb Darren, thanks for posting. I think I'll sign up for this as well.
  18. @aknight123456 afraid not, the Dolomite is in bits awaiting paint and the amp/receiver are still in the boot awaiting attention.
  19. An over-seas run always focusses my mind on reliability. Before things like the 10CR I always try and get as many miles as possible on the car. My collection of boot spares and tools also expands before getting on a ferry. (Mostly due to my paranoia)
  20. Nice to get an update like this @Darren Sharp! Thanks for taking the time to post. It's good as a member to hear about what's going on behind the scenes.
  21. It's a long shot @Darren Sharp as the front panels on the Dolomites are a common rot-spot, but it might be worth putting a wanted note over on the TDC forum? And/Or checking their panel range and seeing if they have anything that might help?
  22. Wot @Nick Jones said ๐Ÿ‘† My 1500 runs relatively low oil pressure at HOT tick-over (even with an oil cooler) but no rumblings or noises... Bearings.
  23. Oooh nasty. But not massively unexpected on a Dolomite. Binny was similar, but not as bad when James tackled her: (See: https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=32242&start=150)
  24. The problem I have is not so much that people selling paperwork are technically doing so illegally (although I wouldn't be comfortable doing that), but that it enables other serious crime like ringing of stolen classic cars. I think I get particularly tetchy about this because of my history in the Land Rover scene, where this sort of thing is common place and the theft of such vehicles is (was?) a serious issue for owners. If you had a stash of spitfire parts and used it to build a car, if you still had the VIN plate (or even just the number) you could legitimately apply for an identity from the DVLA.
