  1. Could be red with a blue trace - but that's dip beam. It does look more like an inline fuse older than the connector I was thinking of. No point comparing with my 1500 as I partially re-wired it, so it's non-standard.
  2. Do you mean red with a purple tracer, or could be red, might be purple? Anything red is typically lighting related, purple usually fused live. The only red/purple I found on the 1500 wiring diagram is the section between the bulb and the switch for the boot light. (Although I might have missed something) From the description it sounds like the sort of inline connector that's used on things like the radio feed (and maybe the map light? Can't remember)
  3. On the Spitfire I run one of this type just before the pump (short section of rubber from the rigid pipe along the chassis, filter, then another short section to the pump) On one occasion when the car stood for a long time (6+ months) the rubber seals in the end-caps dried out and failed to seal... resulting in non-starting. But apart from that I've never had any issues with this type.
  4. @Wendy DawesIt's a great idea for an event, good luck getting it organised and getting the MSA permit (unless it's an informal event?) I heard (maybe untrue?) that some Welsh police services can be a bit "funny" about route approval.
  5. Not me... before my time, I didn't acquire my first Triumph until 2012
  6. To echo what @PeteStupps and @Clive said... shop around, get one, drive it, then decide what needs doing. I had a similar 6-pot-plan in mind when I got the Spitfire 1500, never went anywhere. Ok, so I now have a "fast road" spec. 1500 engine in it, but we enjoyed it on a standard engine for years before that vanity project got fitted. Similarly with our Dolomite, I was worried about the 3 speed auto box.... then I drove it and it's fantastic and I wouldn't change it. If you really want to up the BHP on a Spitfire.... talk to @Clive about Zetec options.
  7. Very happy with the trunnionless on the Spitfire, peace of mind is worth the extra for me.
  8. Not a great photo, but the only one where all 3 of them are together: All 3 are rescue dogs, Poppy (mongrel, clearly part ridge-back), Honey (some variation on Pomeranian) and Meg the Beagle.
  9. Beware that some suppliers that look like they should be reputable from their website or eBay listings are Absolute F**king Sh*t and in my experience are selling hose as "R9" when it quite obviously is not. IMHO look for branded Gates hose OR use one of the reputable Triumph specialists (Moss, Canley, James Paddock, etc.)
  10. Similar to @Clive a reasonable ethylene glycol depending on what's available when I need some.
  11. Does anyone have any millboard off-cuts? I'm looking for 2 pieces about 12"x18" to make some speaker mountings. Or alternatively know of a supplier who might pre-cut a piece to get the postage down a bit? So far it looks like about £15-£20 for the millboard (smallest available size) and then about the same again for the postage! Cheers, Sam
  12. I guess it depends on what you want to achieve... for "best price" - list it on eBay with a vague description and some flattering photos and hope people bid on it. Or if you want a "fair price" - advertise on forums like this and facebook marketplace (but on faceache be prepared for a steady stream of time-wasters and chancers) Where did you buy it from? Maybe re-advertise in the same place? Wish you the best of luck moving it on at a proper price and with a minimal of hassle.
  13. Nice looking motor! Welcome to the forum.
  14. My son is currently on an electrical apprenticeship (year 2 of 4)... when he passes his driving test the best he can hope for is some sub-1 litre euro-box type thing. Anything else he just won't get insurance for.
  15. Series III Lightweight Land Rover. Acquired just before I was 18, lasted me about 7-8 years until I traded it in due to impending parenthood.
  16. The pump on my 1500 (late type) is just bolted on.
  17. Shouldn't be a problem with the cam, if I remember rightly the early pump (short arm) is fitted without spacer and later pump (longer arm) with the spacer but are otherwise interchangeable. Somebody who knows for sure will be along any minute to confirm or tell me I'm an idiot I expect.
  18. I wonder why Tim would dislike somebody who took a place on an RBRR with no intention of trying to complete it? 😉 Or maybe Tim, like me, has a low opinion of Fuzz's TV show? Or maybe he's just not a fan of The Wonder Stuff?
  19. Interesting! We'll keep that in mind when we check ours in the next couple of weeks.
  20. Vr1 survived pretty well in my Spitfire 1500 with some hard usage. I've since used Penrite and on the recommendation of @Clivemy next oil change will be Millers CSS 20w60. To be honest, VR1/Penrite/Millers will all be great and a cut above average 20w50 for most usage.
  21. Who have you tried? RobSport? S & S ? Abingdon/DMG are out of stock - back order 😞 Not cheap either!
  22. Hoping we get moved up to Scotland this year. Fingers crossed. Yep politics is a factor.
  23. It's in @McJim's signature... which is visible on a computer version of the site, but not on the mobile version.
  24. Never had problems with the mirrors shaking/vibrating on the Spitfire even at autobahn speeds or "spirited driving" conditions. TBH I wouldn't be without them, yes the all round visibility is good, but I like having them there.
