  1. FINALS HAVE NOW BEEN SENT If you have not received them by the end of play today, please PM me your email address as some of the entry forms either had email addresses missing or not fully legible so I had to make a 'best guess' in some cases. Looking forward to the event now, as I hope you all are too!
  2. Thanks chaps - I have done a lot of fabrication work before, but it's all be geometric stuff - manufacturing chassis etc and exhausts. It was the harder panel forming I've had issues with. I've made sills and front wing sections for my BMW, but I've only ever been able to form them from joining different sections together. I have heard of stretching and shrinking metal, but I don't know the techniques that 'stretch' and those that 'shrink'. I can bash metal to a rough shape though. I have a hammer and dolly set, and from the chassis work etc I have loads of billets and pipes etc I use for forming curves, but as I said, that only works for simple curves. From what you say I need to get a  shot bag and bossing mallet. I'll keep an eye out at Stoneleigh, or the Restoration Show in a few weeks.
  3. Another message for competitors - Due to the Stoneleigh show tomorrow I will send out the finals on Monday. Looking forward to it, and I hope that you all are too!
  4. Sorry bud, never made the trip in the end as my house developed an internal water feature... Oh well, fun paddling into the kitchen. Hopefully will be making a social call to Cov during next week so will swing by then.
  5. Ah, my bad, thought the GT6 sump had a different pressing to clear the steering rack.
  6. Am I right in saying that the sumps are different between GT6 and Vitesse, and the Saloons are different again of course...
  7. Would it be possible to 'fair' lights into the body? lighter and more aerodynamic?
  8. Hmm, I'll have to see which one I bought, I'm 99% certain I bought a front mount one... which is damn annoying.
  9. Thanks for the link Gaz, I had not seen that before. As I said, having the pressure regulator is future proofing for when I get the new engine in on the triple Webers, without having to change the pump set up (hopefully). I already have the HUCO pump, but I have got the Malpassi Filter King with built in pressure regulator and a removable dial as well for accurately(ish) setting the pressure. I have a fuel tap too so I can cut the fuel off at the tank so I can help stop the fuel syphoning back etc. I'll stick some photos up when I get round to it!
  10. Could you give me a bit of detail about how you shaped these complicated bits of metal? I have been trying to do rust repairs on my BMW E30 and have needed to make compound curves with little success without making a simple curve and then pie-cutting it to suit. Any techniques you're willing to share? What tools go you use, and do you use heat etc too to make the steel more malleable?
  11. Is there a difference between the HUCO front and rear mount pumps? I bought one for my Vitesse that I was going to mount on the engine block, but have since changed plans to mount in the boot along with a Malpassi Filter King and pressure regulator (This is a bit of future proofing as long term the car will go back to having Webers on), but will the HUCO pump be okay mounted at the back in the boot?
  12. Not always - some Imprezas are 50:50, but some are 60:40 or even 45:55... Unless you know what the diff came from you may not know what it originally had... however, even so I agree, that if the Diff can put up with the abuse these cars tend to get, then they'll live in a Triumph quite happily.
  13. I'm heading to Coventry this evening - If I get a chance I'll see if the FWD is there I saw and drop a note through the door if it is in reference to the boot floor.
  14. From memory the one piece bushes are 'Polybush' brand and the two part top hats tend to be Superflex. I've seen another brand pop-up on ebay recently called Floflex... early days to say if they're any good. Also, I use Powerflex on the BMWs and they're good... as long as you don't mind lavender purple bushes haha.

    Panels

    Might find one at Stoneleigh??
  16. Right, I chased up further details with the marathon company today - they were quite friendly and helpful actually. I was half expecting a 'we got the closed roads, f**k off mate' type of thing. Anyway, there is another map I had not found before that also covers the 'access available' times too, so arrival routes are not expected to be affected, and the actual route of the rally should be unaffected too. Further details here; http://www.coventryhalf.com/us.....tter%201%20Final.pdf
  17. If anyone needs one I have a BMW E30 propshaft I was about to chuck on ebay, but may be of use to anyone considering a BMW diff swap.
  18. Okay, When I send out the finals I will include further details. I am out of the office for a few days, but on Wednesday I will call the company organising the Marathon on Wednesday to assess any impact on the event itself, although I am not expecting any.
  19. For normal road use, no, it's not really needed. But for pressing on motoring it makes sense, and is a well known and practiced method of improving bearing life etc.
  20. I hope everyone who has entered the rally reads this, but I will be sending out further details soon; It has come to my attention that it is the Coventry Half Marathon on the Sunday morning. Technically none of the route for the rally should be closed when the teams get there towards the end of the rally BUT teams arrival routes COULD be effected as some roads are closed from 6am. This is a link to the route; http://www.coventryhalf.com/userfiles/files/Cov%20Route%20Map%202016.pdf
  21. Space frame, Imp back end and Spitfire Front end? Sounds very similar to a G15 to me under the skin... Just saying there are other cars out there that have the Spitfire front end without the weight of an engine over them. This could give you some guidance towards what springs would be good on the car.
  22. In terms of an Imp with Spitfire front suspension, that sounds remarkably similar to a Ginetta G15!! Worth an investigation. Unfortunately I did just about everything on G15's... apart from the front suspension, so I'm not sure what a good spec would be...
  23. Looking very nice Theo - never thought I'd be envious of a wedge, but you'd managed it!
