  1. Would the engine number carry an 'A' to indicate automatic?
  2. ESS would be a service replacement engine from memory?
  3. Ah, so that's what these are called! I've just called them twin bladed tin-snip thingy ma jiggles. I have not had blisters, and they're good for shaping by hand, but the kerf material removed by the blade curls up underneath and the tool jams against it. You also need material on both sides of the blade or the jaw twists and jams.
  4. Wow!!! Entries are now full! 24 cars! Final last minute entry came through at the last minute just before hitting go on the T-shirt order! And what a car it is; 1927 Austin 7 no less! By the entry form, it's a standard car, so Flat Out at 45 for these lads! This has also led to changes in other teams as one team split to make the Austin 7 happen, so entries are now as follows; Entries Team A1 - Tony Pulis and Chris Banks - Stag - North London Team A2 - Rob Pearce and Iris Chiu - GT6 - Cambridge Team A3 - Richard Warr and Lynn O'Halloran - Mk1 2000 - No Area Team A4 - Jeremy Lupton and Ben Lupton - TR6 - No Area Team A5  - Dale Barker and Nigel Abdullah - Mk1 2000 - North London Team A6 - Steve Hudson, Dave Proctor and Liz Hudson - Herald 1200 - West Midlands Team A7 - Michael Helm and Colin Wake - Dolomite - Essex Team A8 - Mike Banks and Mark Rutter - Spitfire - Essex Team A9 - Charlie Deards and Ellis Stokes - 2500S Estate - North London Team A10 - Matt Roughton and Matt Sutton - Spitfire - Coventry and Warwickshire Team A11 - Mike Bishop and Darren Armitage - Spitfire - Essex Team A12 - Andrew Martin and Gavin Mitchal - Vitesse 6 - No Area Team B1 - Sarah Nicholson and Simon Lytton - Mazda Eunos - Mercia Motor Club Team B2 - Nick Ravenhall and Claire Udell - Mazda MX5 - No Area Team B3 - Tom Campbell and Greg Withey - Austin 7 - Mercia Motor Club Team C1 - Jono Hobbs and Graham Gardner - Renault Clio 182 - Mercia Motor Club Team C2 - Daniel Chambers and Aidan Spink - MG ZR - Rugby Car Club Team C3 - Steve Baker,William Copland and Jenny Wallis - Volvo 940 - Mercia Motor Club Team C4 - John Smith and Chris Campsall - Suzuki Cappuccino - Mercia Motor Club Team C5 - William Ward and Adam Sharp - Mazda MX5 - Mercia Motor Club Team C6 - Tim Fallowell and Janet Fallowell - Lotus Elise - No area Team C7 - Rob Moon and Giorgio Dimemtriou - Ford Focus - Mercia Motor Club Team C8 - Martyn Banham and Ben Verrecchia - Mazda MX5 - No Area Team C9 - Alex Mountford and Pete Murias - Mini Cooper - No Area
  5. A horizontal cut off wheel is good, not sure if there are electric ones rather than windy ones. Dremmels are for very fine work - if you try using a Dremmell on a car panel you'll get through cutting discs in literally seconds.
  6. In the dying moments I received a confirmed entry from Alex, so we're now at 23 teams. T-shirts ordered, catering plans underway, including a very special cake... 7. Good job you have your rotisserie for tipping the sand and grit out! My mate built up a Mitsubishi Evo they had blasted... unfortunately when painting it the wet paint pulled grit out of the crevises and the heat process for baking the paint didn't help matters. I'm sure you're already aware, but be really thorough!

  9. Most of the Triumph spares sellers will have engines, but Mike Papworth usually has a few listed on eBay. Not that uncommon.
  10. I'm not in charge of catering Andy, I leave it up to the other half as she's the cook. I realise I forgot to say earlier, the hotness is for the chilli, the chicken stew will be mild.
  11. I will help with the catering... but I mainly spend the day before the rally tearing around trying to sort and finalise paperwork etc...
  12. Single pipe is much nicer in my opinion, and it can be tucked up out the way more - the twin pipe system running under the spare wheel well like this is more likely to catch on bumps etc.
  13. Right, a catering question has come up! if no-one answers we'll do it as we see fit... Anyway; The catering options this year are going to be a Mediterranean chicken stew thingy and a Mexican beef chilli. We're unsure what everyone's heat levels are, so we were planning on making the chilli to be quite mild, however, one particular competitor has asked if it will be 'nice and hot' - so how are people with hot food? It'll be made with fresh chilis etc, but we don't want people to not enjoy it. Speak now or forever hold your peace. (On an unrelated note, it seems I should run events exclusively for MX5s...)
  14. And another one! Entries Team A1 - Tony Pulis and Chris Banks - Stag - North London Team A2 - Rob Pearce and Iris Chiu - GT6 - Cambridge Team A3 - Richard Warr and Lynn O'Halloran - Mk1 2000 - No Area Team A4 - Jeremy Lupton and Ben Lupton - TR6 - No Area Team A5  - Dale Barker and Nigel Abdullah - Mk1 2000 - North London Team A6 - Steve Hudson, Dave Proctor and Liz Hudson - Herald 1200 - West Midlands Team A7 - Michael Helm and Colin Wake - Dolomite - Essex Team A8 - Mike Banks and Mark Rutter - Spitfire - Essex Team A9 - Charlie Deards and Ellis Stokes - 2500S Estate - North London Team A10 - Matt Roughton and Matt Sutton - Spitfire - Coventry and Warwickshire Team B1 - Sarah Nicholson and Simon Lytton - Mazda Eunos - Mercia Motor Club Team C1 - Jono Hobbs and Graham Gardner - Renault Clio 182 - Mercia Motor Club Team C2 - Daniel Chambers and Aidan Spink - MG ZR - Rugby Car Club Team C3 - Steve Baker and Tom Campbell - Mazda MX5 - Mercia Motor Club Team C4 - John Smith and Chris Campsall - Suzuki Cappuccino - Mercia Motor Club Team C5 - William Ward and Adam Sharp - Mazda MX5 - Mercia Motor Club Team C6 - Tim Fallowell and Janet Fallowell - Lotus Elise - No area Team C7 - Rob Moon and Giorgio Dimemtriou - Ford Focus - Mercia Motor Club Team C8 - Martyn Banham and Ben Verrecchia - Mazda MX5 - No Area Reserve Teams

  17. Woo! Three entries on the mat last night when I got in. They are all entries I was expecting, but it does mean the numbers are going well. There is a chance I will merge class B and C together as there is only one entry in B at the moment. Entries Team A1 - Tony Pulis and Chris Banks - Stag - North London Team A2 - Rob Pearce and Iris Chiu - GT6 - Cambridge Team A3 - Richard Warr and Lynn O'Halloran - Mk1 2000 - No Area Team A4 - Jeremy Lupton and Ben Lupton - TR6 - No Area Team A5  - Dale Barker and Nigel Abdullah - Mk1 2000 - North London Team A6 - Steve Hudson, Dave Proctor and Liz Hudson - Herald 1200 - West Midlands Team A7 - Michael Helm and Colin Wake - Dolomite - Essex Team A8 - Mike Banks and Mark Rutter - Spitfire - Essex Team A9 - Charlie Deards and Ellis Stokes - 2500S Estate - North London Team B1 - Sarah Nicholson and Simon Lytton - Mazda Eunos - Mercia Motor Club Team C1 - Jono Hobbs and Graham Gardner - Renault Clio 182 - Mercia Motor Club Team C2 - Daniel Chambers and Aidan Spink - MG ZR - Rugby Car Club Team C3 - Steve Baker and Tom Campbell - Mazda MX5 - Mercia Motor Club Team C4 - John Smith and Chris Campsall - Suzuki Cappuccino - Mercia Motor Club Reserve Teams Res 1 - Tim Fallowell and Janet Fallowell - Lotus Elise S1 - No Area Res 2 - Giorgio Dimitriou and Adam Dimitriou - ??? - No Area Res 3 - Rob Moon and Dominic Purves - ??? - No Area

  19. There was a front photo of the same, but the aftermarket add on additions, although popular with Max Power types, somewhat ruined the curves in my opinion... The fibreglass stick on spoiler on the car was pretty crap too 😉
  20. Very good Mike, good to have you and Darren along again. We can add a few more now too... We may even get an entry from an unusual Japanese car, the Suzuki Cappuccino. And a rear view... Anyway, back to the team entries... 23. It's not totally impossible... (Note, this car has from memory a Honda S2000 VTEC engine in, which is why the exhaust is on the drivers side)
  24. Good to hear Colin, thank you. Hoping we can at least match last years entry of 17 cars...
