culp
Hello!I've just acquired my MK3 GT6 and it has overdrive. The overdrive is actuated by a stalk on the steering column? I thought it was a button on the gearknob that actuates the overdrive? It is an earlier version of the MK3 pre comission no. KE20000 does that make a difference? Is this off a Triumph Vitesse? (It has a Vitesse distributor) The wiring for the switch looks rather temporary.ThanksCulp
nang
No reason you couldn't fit a gear lever switch if you want. You'll have to find a suitable gear lever and do a bit of wiring.
Clive
yep, the column switch is from an earlier GT6 or vitesse. Nothing wrong with it, just different.Easy to cheange to the gearstick version, if you can find one. Seems the easiest solution is to cut/weld the gearstick. Though MK IV spit one will fit, and probably more common.

rotoflex
You have gotten lucky!I and some others think the column-mounted switch is better for reliability & operation, and if you mean by a Vitesse distributor that it is a Lucas instead of a Delco, that's good, too! MK3
If you change it for a gear lever switch drop me a line - I'm looking for an overdrive column switch for our MK3 Spitfire
