ted mott
Hello chaps, is it possible to lift out the front shock absorber and spring unit without them going boing and comming apart?Ted
Clive
As a unit, yes, that is how it should be done. Take out the shock bottom bolt, undo the 3 nuts on the top of the prsingpan and with some serious wrangling it will come out. Do not attempt to undo the single nut in the centre without spring compressors, (unless the springs are lowered so there is no tension at all in them when the shock is fully open)
ted mott
Hi Clive, thanks for the info, i've managed to get the unit out to give me more room to remove the hub the only problem now is removing the lower wishbone bolt that goes through the trunnion, i've got the nut off but the bolt just turns, and the wishbone seems to widen the more i turn the bolt. I tried to knock the bolt out but to no avail.and boy is that trunnion stiff, i cant turn the manually.Ted
Steve Cureton
You probably need to hacksaw down the side of the wishbone and through the bolt. Obviously you need to take care but it does sound like the trunnion may be stuffed.
Clive
grinder! (if replacing the trunnion then a 9" one, if not a smaller one with a thin cutting disc. Much easier/less hard work than a hacksaw ;))
