Craig Gingell
Are these shocks commonplace? I've never seen any like it before, and wondered if they were part of the problem I had with positive camber...
Tim Bancroft
Craig,I think they are helper springs, used for cars that are used for trailering-caravaning etc!!!!How low is the car at the back at pres. with the 475lb springs?

Greeks
I've heard of them - popular in the 70s apparently. My car had some air shockers at some point. I've got an attachment for an airline on the boot.
Craig Gingell
I've been reliably informed by those in the know that these are Koni Loadadjusters. Tyre size is 195 60 on a 15" rim. Springs are 475 lb/in from Chris Witor. The height from the ground to top of wheel arch is 23". Not that much difference from the old setup - annoyingly I didn't measure it before taking it all apart. Here's a photo of the new setup - I'm thinking it should be a bit lower? MarkDeTriomphe
Hi Craig,Here's mine on similar 15" rims and 195/70 tyres - looks lower even with the standard springs! I did not measure the height then, but it sits a shade over 22" now on the original 13" rims and 185 tyres.I guess removing the towing shocks/springs will bring it down - but do you really want to driving around all those bumpy country lanes in Wiltshire?Mark
sahtuning2000
Mine sits at 21" at the rear, and 23" at the front,on 14 inch wheels, think it suits it...
Tim Bancroft
The new springs will settle as well, so will probably drop a further 1/2 - 1''.Great all these mk1 cars eh!
andy thompson
Probably a good idea for RBRR... all the heavily loaded Mk1 and 2 are always bottoming out through Scotland... your will sit just right with a boot full of pasties and half a spare Triumph in bits
