Silverback was originally a 13/60 estate, and it had an ARB with brackets on the front limb of the lower front wishbone.

Porter & Williams' DiY Guide lists the model specs as including a front ARB from the very first 948 Herald.

So yours must have been cut off, or some awful bodge done - front half of lower w/bone substituted with rear???

All Canley built Heralds except the Courier left the factory with an ARB. Interestingly, the Courier has the best out-of-the-box handling of any Heralds, so your car's previous owner may have been onto something in removing it!

Cheers,
Bill.

Ironically, most of the Couriers sold were apparently used as Florists Vans!

According to contemporary advertising, all light commercials were sold to florists.....

Sorry to buck the trend, but as far as I am aware, none of my Couriers was ever owned by a florist.

Cheers,
Bill.

Enigmatic comment Leon.....

Seem to remember some remark in one of the Triumph history books about the Herald ARB being fitting to cure "distinctly exciting" (entertaining tail out antics maybe) handling traits.

(Found it P 185 of Graham Robsons Triumph Cars, The complete Story.
