Jazzman
Guys,I just bought a new antiroll bar for the spitfire from Canley. The bar has some kind of treatment (it has a goldish colour) and the brackets look very shiny. Do you think I should treat them somehow (hammeritte, etc) before I put them in the car? Thanks in advance!
Paudman
Brackets are cheap - you can get them in stainless, by all means paint them if you want but they're pennies to replace - however the roll bar itself could be painted before fitting. The current cadmium plating will fade eventually so painting from new will help keep the bar corrosion free. Don't use Hammerite (hate the stuff!!) but any good anti-rust coating will do. (Rustoleum Hard-Hat in black...excellent stuff!)
TimW
are you going to be using it all year as a daily driver? if not just put it on it will take a long time to start rusting if only used on high days and holidays!
willcolumbine
I always get stuff like this powdercoated. Costs a bit more but it really does look good and leaves a tough finish.
