John Addy
Hi, Some help please. I've just swapped the steering wheel from my Mk3 Spitfire for a flashy woodrim and boss from Rimmer Bros. So far, so good. I had expected to use the old wheel and boss on my Special which I thought had a Herald steering column. Turns out this splined shaft measures around 19mm in diameter compared to the 15mm of the Sptfire. So if they are not interchangeable what other vehicle bosses will fit the Herald (or perhaps I haven't got a Herald column)Cheers all, John
heraldcoupe
The same basic steering column was used on all Heralds and Spitfires, until the late 1500 Spitfires got their revised steering column with the chunky switchgear. On that basis, it can't have a Herald column in there. Cheers,Bill.
John Addy
Thanks Bill, I suspected as much - now comes the problem of finding a boss to fit the larger shaft. Or perhaps changing the column for an identified one might be a better option. Cheers, John
heraldcoupe
If you post an image I'm sure someone will recognise what the column is from,Cheers,Bill.
