Freebird
The haynes manual suggests you simply release the two pinch bolts on the UJ and the safety clamp on the column near the pedals. Those who have done this, know what I'm gonna say next - how do you get the top pinch bolt out? Perhaps it's easier to unbolt the rack and pull the steering shaft forward?Help and advice always welcome.Glen.

WIMPUS
i unbolted the steering rack (also to put new rubbers in ) and then put the new UJ in place :)Then i've seen somewhere you could loosen the clamp at the steering housing .. :B But my plan worked :P
Freebird
Was easy in the end. By removing the safety block completely, the column can be pushed up as far as you like, the UJ is then accessible after releasing it from the rack.Nice new blue poly versions fitted.
