Brendan The Spit
What really is the difference (and please don't say 'one inch')?So I've got a 14-inch wheel right now but I'm looking at a great buy for a 13-inch wheel on ebay. Would I really notice the difference? I imagine going from 13 to 14 would involve deciding whether you have space, but the other way around? But I guess a smaller wheel would have handling implications? Any thoughts?
rotoflex
Smaller wheel = more effort to turnMakes a difference at low speed, like in parking lots.
Brendan The Spit
Interesting - not a problem for me but might be for my girlf. Not being sexist here, just practical. Thanks for this.
Paudman
It depends on your height / length of legs. A smaller wheel may take more effort to turn but if you can't get into the car due to the larger wheel, it's a necessity. Going for a dished wheel means you can have a larger diameter, but still have it clear of your legs. My own wheel is 13 inch slightly dished; heavier at slow speeds but little difference at speed. willcolumbine
The size any type of the tyres makes a difference too! I've got a 12" steering wheel on mine and with the yokohama semi slicks it takes quite a bit of effort to move about at low speeds.Try it! If you don't like it you can always switch back. Brendan The Spit
Splendid - thanks for the comments. I'll be going from a 14 inch to a 13 inch so space won't be a problem, but I didn't even consider how 'heavy' the steering might feel at low speeds. OK, this definitely helped. Cheers, Brendan
