Richard76007
Hello from Switzerland,I just receive from Rimmer a new quick rack and pinion (2.5 turns insteed of 3.5) for my GT6mk3 and I would include an electric power steering to this modification.I was surching for a steering from a Vauxhall Corsa C as a part donor car.Has anyone realised this sort of modification on these car ?Has anyone some advice or report ? :) richard.maury@bluewin.ch

thescrapman
That is a common upgrade now. There are a couple of people on this forum who have done it.I beleive Scottie55 is fitting it at present to teh car he is restoring.Hopefully he will answer soon.Cheers

esxefi
that picture has something about it like the lotus in 'the spy who loved me' no?as for power steering, with a 2.5 turn rack it may not last very long as the motor effort is on the column rather than the rack itself which means the pinion and lower steering joint will take all the strain.is your steering stiff while driving or are you talking about parking speeds? uksnatcher
Its a common upgrade to MK1/2 Escort rally cars (check out the video on the auction):http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ESCORT-MK1-MK2-CORTINA-CAPRI-POWER-STEERING-KIT-CORSA-B-/230582781271?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35afce0557Thought about it but looks like a lot of work getting it to fit and work correctlyCan be had quite cheaply too:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vauxhall-corsa-B-electric-power-steering-eps-/270700534508?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f07025aec
Scottie55
Hi, Have a look at my thread below. http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl?m-1229790537/s-330/I've used a Corsa B adjustable power steering unit. My Spitfire restoration is stalled at present due to other demands on my time. But at least you'll get an idea of what's involved. Its not as straight forward as some may beieve but certainly very dooable. Roy
