Velocita Rosso
Any one have a part number manual for the MK2?The question being ,where the joint is ,inside the boot there is a nut that holds the ball to the rest of the rack. Inside the nut there is a part( ball shaped cup) that mates with the ball, so then with the nut tightened it allows the ball to pivot (shims can also be fitted to take up play)
Nick Jones
Mike,Part shown here as "NSS"?http://www.canleyclassics.com/?xhtml=xhtml/diagram/spitfire1500balljointsandbellows.html&xhtmlcatalogue=xhtml/catalogue/spitfire1500.html&category=steering&xsl=diagram.xslThere are the same on all manual triumph racks I think though there are two variants, early ones being metal and later ones nylon (much more common). Can't see anyone admitting to selling them separately.Rimmers do track rods as an exchange assemblyhttp://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-138819RYou can get the shims and lock washers (and the rack tube bush if needed) from Chris Witor. Make sure you set the shimming with the actual lock washer to are going to use as I've found they vary rather alot in thickness. If you are really stuck for the nylon cup(s) I can probably find a used one.CheersNick

piman
Hello Mike, for what it's worth, in the parts book it does give two part numbers,:- 120955 and 158732. the first described as socket ball and the latter as ball socket. No mention of material. Alec
