benja
Hi my dolly 1300 has been feeling (more) spongy lately and I was wondering what would cause this, it still drives ok just somthing feels wrong, maybe its in my mind but either way id like it stiffening up. ive had a look and theres alot of rubber that could have degraded? it doesnt feel like a problem with the shocks. also is it possible to get adjustable shocks to fit it? anything to make the whole thing feel less like a dingy.thanksBen
partsaver
heavy load in boot, buggered shocks or over inflated tyres can cause spongeyness, It is pointless and a waste of money fitting adjusatble shocks.Any chance you can be a bit more detailed in what is happeneing? benja
no load in boot, there is a lot of play (around 100mm) and various wobbles in the steering wheel which has a high frequency 'buzzing' vibration on full right lock. and is very unresponsive i cant really explain more than that
partsaver
Start at the steering coluum adn work you way down and out checking all the bushes and mountings and ball joints, the buzzing noise could well be bearings but i cant see how that would make the suspension spongy. As Partsaver said don't use modifications to rectify faults, only start uprating things after you had a chance to know what it's supposed to feel like. There's obviously something amiss with either the steering and or suspension (front or rear) Just work your way through it systematically Gordon
