purplewac1
I have a Vitesse 2L engine in my Hurricane with a spitfire chassis.I need to take the sump off due to oil leaks and I noticed that the indent in the sump for the rack is about 20mm behind the rack itself. This means that the rack is very close to the sump, but has never caused any issues. Is this because I have a Vitesse sump and not a GT6 one? I always thought they were the same?I am pretty sure I didn't mount the engine further back when I first built it. I am not going to change anything, just interested. Nick Jones
AFAIK GT6 and Vitesse sumps are the same. Can't explain the 20mm....... but if it misses, it's good enough. Suspect mine doesn't line up either as I've moved the engine back as far as I can without chopping the bulkhead.Nick
Jonny-Jimbo
The mounts could be on the wrong side of the holes on the turrets, that would move the engine back fractionally I think. (Swapping the turrets side to side would mean roughly 6" moved back)
purplewac1
Engine mounts are bolted on the front of the Vitesse uprights and everything is in the standard position when compared to GT6 photos. I will just have to put it down as one of those things. At least if anything the engine is further back rather than further forward, and I have never had an issue with it.
