Jonny-Jimbo
I know I won't win in a 5 series Colin, so I may as well enjoy myself. Plus it'll need new tyres for MOT anyway.
Richard B
Quoted from thescrapman I thought the whole point of Autosolos was to have Mahoooosive power slides and the odd-doughnut thrown in. Best way to get the 10/10 for artistic impression. I recall watching a certain Dolomite Sprint slow'ish times, but incredibly elegant and entertaining to watch. Dale
May I be the first person to say here (clearly not first on Facebook though) well done to all the marshals, scrutineers, timekeepers, organisers and others who helped run the day, particularly Nigel Abdullah for doing by far the lion's share of the work prior to the day & a fair bit on the day. I would like to say a particular thank you to those marshals from other clubs who came along & helped to make the day run. Many competitors may not have realised this sort of thing goes on but Nigel went to a recent Oxford MC Solo to help marshal/timekeep & we bagsied David Smith (aka Shirley? 😉 ) and possibly another marshal too in exchange. It's this sort of inter-club co-operation in times when it's getting harder to find enough support to run these events, which allows them to take place. I don't know about anyone else but I had such a good time yesterday that I will be volunteering to help marshal/timekeep for another club myself in the future. If you don't feel similarly moved but did take part as a competitor yesterday, then perhaps you could voice some thanks and it might make finding all the necessary timekeepers next time easier. Jonny-Jimbo
Here's a link to Andy's photos from the day, hopefully all the CT cars got captured at least; https://www.facebook.com/andre.....504685767&type=3.For those that can't view that I'll upload them to the CT Photo Album soon.To reiterate what Dale has said, I had a fantastic time yesterday, and it's my first event of this type, but hopefully not the last. I have done a grass auto-test before, but I didn't enjoy that. Yesterdays Tarmac event though was brilliant, even if I was in totally the wrong car. I am now on the hunt for an LSD though. Thanks to all the marshalls, scrutineers, volunteers, and people that took part, and I hope everyone had fun. Maybe next time if I don't have a working Triumph I'll take the MX5 instead - Tabitha Bland made the courses look easy, even if a few cones were killed! richard w
I'd like to add my thanks to Dale's and Jon's.It was my first autosolo too. I also had the wrong car - too big, underpowered, auto box and non-power steering - but it's the only one I've got and I'm happy with it 🙂 I wasn't sure about entering because of only having the 2000, but I'm glad that I did. Had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Great fun, great company and gorgeous weather - perfect way to spend a nice quiet Sunday! Huge thanks to everyone involved in making it happen. CV35Ian
How often are these run at Gaydon?Only asking as I live just down the road and Its a few years since my last Autosolo outing and they were good cheap fun!Ian
Jonny-Jimbo
Hi Ian,Unfortunately this was a one off event, in the sense that it happens once a year. The Gaydon Motor Centre costs a lot to hire out for the day, so the Comps Team are thinking of other places that we could use in the general vicinity. There may be another one in Gaydon next year if a suitable venue isn't found. There are the two other events in the area, the Warwickshire Winter Wander 12 Car Rally and the Warwickshire Scatter Rally, which was this weekend just gone.
