john136070
HiAdvice needed please. I have new seals for fitting in the master cylinders of my herald 1360 but they are far too tight and don't slide in the cylinder. They are fitted with the grease supplied.Any ideas why they should be so tight. Thanks John
Pete Lewis
make sure the cylindr diameter and seals supplied are the same size there are mixes of 0.625" and 0.7 " cylinders on the our range of cars sound like you are fitting .07 into a .625 Pete
Casper
0.625" kit should be SP1963, or variantC.
john136070
HiThanks for the quick reply.Thought they were all .625. Probably right in thinkin the seals I have are .7, they certainly seem to be to big. Will confirm size.John
glang
Hello John,As an aside to your question, I have just replaced the brake master cylinder on my Vitesse with a 0.75" bore unit and the pedal feel has improved 100%. I had previously changed the seals in the original unit but it remained spongy so got a new one off eBay (Landrover unit at 12quid delivered) and love it. I dont know if its just down to the bigger bore or cos its new but at that price its not worth messing about with seal changes!Hope that helps, Graham
Pete Lewis
yes good value but up the bore from 5/8 to 0.7 will increase your pedal load the 0.7 was introduced when type 16 calipers were fitted as the .625/ 5/8" needed extra stroke to shift the volume of the larger piston'd calipersconversely replace a a 0.7 with a 0.625" will reduce pedal effort but increase your stroke/travelPete
