Rychu
Hello Folks, I have new brake pipes and tandem master cylinder but there seems to be a compatibility issue fitting the pipe connectors.I am assuming the master cylinder requires metric pipe connectors and those that I have are imperial?Has anyone else had this problem and are adapters available as I don't have a flaring tool to be able to replace the pipe connectors?Richard
stevegt6
Adaptors are available, but better with right end (probably imperial) to match cylinder (looks right/neater and less joins)Simple flaring kit is about £20 and worth the spend (get one with the pipe cutter too) so you can bespoke your pipe runs (unless youre a 'must be original' bloke)CheersS
Rychu
Thanks for the reply but I suspect I will never use a flaring tool again so it will be more sensible to get some adapters. Do you know where I could get these from?Richard
stevegt6
I find ebay a great soutce for stuff like this - just type in what you want....literally :) unless you have brakes specialist locally
Clive
EBay can be helpful, as can a proper motor factors.Alternatively take the pipe to a garage who will swap the fitting and declare the pipe. Should be very cheap.

Should be very cheap.Good idea. I think I will try getting the local garage to fit new connectors. This is a big learning curve for me as I have never done any more than slight tinkering with the "Yeti". My sister in law calls the car this as she had heard a lot about it but had never seen it. ;)Richard

I’ve just tried a different version from the one I’ve used previously and it’s so simple to get great flares. I’ll give it a lot of use in the coming months. This is my previous type, quite fiddly and awkward:http://www.autosessive.com/products/60408/pipe-flaring-tool-kit?gclid=COPzgoy6yb4CFUgTwwodC1wALgAnd this is the latest, and far easier to use:http://www.frost.co.uk/brake-pipe-flaring-tool-set-3121.html
