Rear suspension

Hi,

Got a noise at the rear suspension for a while now and it starts to annoy me a bit  :B
So had a look this evening ..
Got the spring loose and also the bottom of the shock, grease it all up with copper slip.
But still there is a noise, tomorrow going to try and see at the top bush of the shock or maybe spray a bit of WD40 first to see where it is .

Also found this, it seems the noise is coming from the same side.
There seems to be a lot more play on the left trunnion then on the right.
Couldn't get to the bolt to see it that is tight (shock adjuster is in the way  :B )

Where to buy a decent kit for these ?
The kit that is on is 1,5 years old !

Second one: Dismantle vertical link and hub - collapsed trunnion bush.
Easy job. If bolt is NOT sized :-)

i'm sure the bolt will not be sized !  :P
Used a lot of copper grease at the time and was scared of changing it at first because i heard of the sized bolts ..
But the old one came out easy !
The fronts where another story ....

Also for the trunnions bushes , seems paddocks sells a poly bush kit ...
And i've heard that the new regular bush kits are rubbish  :-/

Anyone got those poly ones fitted ?  :)

Also do you still need the shields, read on an old thread from here that you may not need them anymore  :o

Wim, I have rear poly trunnion bushes fitted, been on the car about 3k miles, no issues so far.
I got email confirmation that the dust shield etc is not needed when fitting the poly kit from superflex.... posted it somewheres on this forum at the time.

ok thanks !  ;D
Just emailed to paddocks also.
Going to buy a kit for the front trunnions also  ;)
it does cost 16£ more, but if they last so much longer , then it's cheaper  ;)
Front trunnions need to come apart also  :o

Its normal maintenance, and you now have a nice workshop  8)
Don't know with quality of new trunnion bushes - I have used lots of old ones, and just changed the thin metal shield/rubber rings.

Don't know with the poly bush idea, but might give the vertical link too much flex?

I've ordered a standard kit and a poly kit from paddocks.
But they send me another money request for the shipping and it was a bit high..
So asked them to delete the poly one ..

Actually don't have to much money now, so need to be a bit careful and also keep the spitfire on the road  ;)
And as only this month  bought a new clutch master (again), service parts, trunnion kit ...
& i do need to order some oil also, because it needs an oil change soon !

For reference Sorry , link no longer available

Thanks, will keep it in mind for later on.
Want to upgrade to poly bushes in the future, but they do cost a bit.
But the plan is when there is somewhere a worn bush that i was going to replace it with poly ones.
