yorkshire_spam
Found these inside the diff.... Any ideas? Look like bits of brass shim/bearing to me....
ferny
Remains of a thrust washer?Kudos on the white diff. All the cool kids are doing it. Mine looked all lovely, until I started fitting it to the car.
Nick Jones
Bits of the planet gear thrust washers? Can't think of anything else made of yellow metal in there......Item 3http://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-spitfire-mkiv/1500-rear-axle-centre-detailsIf your diff has lots of backlash this won't be helping!Nick
yorkshire_spam
Diff has virtually NO backlash, everything inside feels good. Wondering if they are "left overs" from a not-so-diligent rebuild in the past?I'll double double double check the planet gears though.@Ferny - I'd have gone for a grey (mid/light) if I could get decent paint in that colour - but I wanna see the oil leaks so it's not going to be black that's for sure!
