Weel don Wim, ye love tinkerating really.

as that bolts, direct to inside of box,

re Taps n dies

best get yer self a mechanics set of flea bay
they wont be much,  as carbon steel
but ideal for what ye want, ie cleaning threads an the like

Yep got a copper washer on the bottom bolt !
The washer that Anglo Parts supplied was to big, but do have a little copper washer set that does it good to .

More..

I had put the original OD switch (that is at the top of the gearbox) onto the new gearbox.
On the testdrive it sometimes would cut out of OD 🤔
When i pushed the gear lever to the side a bit etc it would do it to.

So back to the garage, got a brand new switch out of my pile of parts and all fine again !

The old switch was still an Lucas one, so must have been +35 years old !

Been thinking of changing the oil in a week or 2 weeks time on the gearbox, just to get the dirt out etc .

Should this be done or not ? 🙂

Heck Aye!!!!!!!!!

Same as an engine, there will always be a initial running in period. In the case of your gearbox all the gears will essentially bed themselves in, and you will inevitably have small bits of metal in the bottom. Have you fitted a magnetic drain plug?
And, as you say, there will also be a certain amount of dirt present that will flush out.

Good Luck!!

Phil, like i thought !
Do you know how long the running in period would take? How many miles and after how many miles should i change the oil etc  ? 🙂
Yes got a magnetic drain plug fitted ! (like in my diff and engine sump to).

For the gearbox i changed it now 5 or 6 times in the last 2,5 years to try and get the OD working good..
So getting there

Lucky i have made a drain plug on the spare diff i put under.

Now done nearly 200 miles since saturday evening ... still going strong ! 😉

Was going to look for oil leaks etc this evening, but the weather was a bit to good
Will check tomorrow evening.
Hopefully it doesn't leak so badly as the one before 🙂
