Jonny-Jimbo
Hi all,A guy I work with is building a Spitfire at the moment. He's got a single rail gearbox in it, and at the weekend he decided to change the oil in the gearbox. When he drained it, there was a chunk of metal on the magnetic drain plug. He took the top off the box, and found in the bottom of the box a form of washer or spacer, around the diameter of a 10 pence piece and around an 8th of an inch thick. There was no obvious play on the gears and it all selected okay, although he hasn't run the box.Any ideas where it might be from in the box? Velocita Rosso
I have looked at the original workshop manual exploded view diagram and I can only see one spacer washer that size/dimension that sits in front of the speedo drive gearI can scan and send if required
