Clive
As above, I am trying to nail down a vibration on my vitesse 1600. I had assumed that it was the prop, so duly bought and fitted a new one. At the same time I swapped to a 4 synchro box, and a 3.89 diff. And guess what. No change. Definately not engine, if I declutch at 70 so the engine is idling the vibration remains. The car is also on a new set of wheels and tyres, no change. The last remaining possibility is the driveshafts. And I got lucky and acquired a new pair of stanpart shafts today. Been on a friends shelf for years, but he finally agreed to part with them. All I need is a pair of rear bearing kits to build them up (I have some stanpart rear trunnion kits, and some top spec UJs already) So the big question is who supplies the best bearing kits? I would love to find Timkin/SKF/Koyo or similar brands. Not so keen on unbranded stuff.
WIMPUS
Clive, so i guess same as Spitfire then? I had unbranded ones fitted early 2023, by september i had noises. One day started to investigate.. Found inner needle bearing wasnt happy at all... Shaft was still ok, so fitted another bearing kit, ofcourse unbranded.. After it all I noticed something.. My failed needle bearing had a lot less needles then original ! I still dont know where to get good bearings.

I have managed to buy a NOS heedle bearing, so am waiting for another to turn up. I found the bearing number for the roller bearing. Available from £5 up to well over £50 for SKF. Part number RLS8 https://www.123bearing.co.uk/bearing-housing/deep-groove-bearing/single-row/rls8-n-skf but Koyo are about £20. So the £10/15 are going to be the cheapest bearings. The needle roller is made by Torrington, and appears to have the number B 168 https://www.123bearing.co.uk/bearing-housing/needle-roller-bearing/needle/b-168-torrington looks quite hopeful.
