yorkshire_spam
Any ideas why the bonnet sticks up in the middle? Is it mal-adjusted or just out of shape?
JensH
out of shape, but check seal at the bulk head panel if fitted.
yorkshire_spam
There's a mahoosive tall seal running across the front under the bonnet - sounds like it might be the wrong one. (Wouldn't surprise me in the light of the other "restoration" things done to the poor car!)

uksnatcher
Its the power of the beast underneath trying to escape Sam...! ;)Whip the seal off and see if it sits lower without one fitted, if so get a smaller seal/correct seal/trim what you have down....?Should look like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-SPITFIRE-MkIV-1500-GT6-MkIII-QUARTER-VALANCE-RUBBER-SEAL-716200-/350715778554
Bainzy
Isn't it supposed to be a lip seal, not a tube section? That's what mine has anyway.
Marcus
It might be worth checking the adjustable rubber cones at the bulkhead end of the bonnet. If they are set too far apart, pulling them down into the sockets with the fastening levers could squeeze the bonnet from the sides and push it up in the middle.Mark. yorkshire_spam
The seal just looks like a tall lip seal to me. More like this kind of profile: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-1794-rubber-extrusion.aspxI'll check the cone positions at the side - but the bonnet side/wings seem to align well with the rest of the panels.... I'll take a look though.
heraldcoupe
The original seal is a simple lip profile. Standard Triumph used at least two variations, presumably using two suppliers simultaneoulsy, but this is the basic profile to match one of the originals. The profile used was never a bubble section, what's shown above is a front valance seal profile,Cheers,Bill. yorkshire_spam
That looks like what I have fitted Bill.
heraldcoupe
If you close the bonnet, but leave the catches undone, does it still sit flush at the edges and bulge in the middle, or do the edges sit at the same height as the centre?Cheers,Bill. yorkshire_spam
With the bonnet just plonked shut (catches undone) the edges are still flush and the centre is still proud.

heraldcoupe
In this case there is physical distortion in the bonnet. An original or properly rebuilt bonnet will just close and sit level across the top. I had wondered if there was an issue with tension on the catches puling things awry, that would have been much easier to fixCheers,Bill.
