Clive
There is no bottom ball joint. At the front it is a ball joint at the top, at the bottom you have a trunnion. The vertical link has a screw thread at th bottom, which screws into a brass trunnion, with the thread acting as the pivot for left/right. Up/down movement is catered for with a bolt and bushes through the lower wishbone. The trunnions should be OILED (not greased) with ep90 (or 80, or 80/90) gearbox/diff oil. The nipple is an inch or so above the trunnion on the vertical link
standardthread
Don't Canely do an upgrade for the bottom trunnion, which, from memory is a ball type joint and sealed for life. Often forgotten or not mentioned is to make sure the EP90 is safe to use for yellow metal (bronze, brass etc.) or it could destroy the bearings etc.

Not much more than buying new std uprights/trunnions/bushes. £344.50 to be precise. Trunnions £22.50 each, std VLs £105 each. £5.50. Total £266. So trunnionless about 20% extra. Worthwhile? it depends!
