Glenn
20/50 is recommended apparently.Might be safer to give it a change - that light is just going to upset you.Hopefully no long term ill effects (I've got 15/40 in mine so my fingers are crossed for you!!)Cheers,Glenn
sahtuning2000
Hmmmmmm,i might get it back tommorrow,i,ve leant it to a friend for 2 weeks,so i best get it changed ASAP....
mikeyb
10/40 way to thin, swap for 20/50. Flickering oil light could be due to pressure switch though - do you have a gauge?
Greeks
I tried 10/40 in my old engine once ... made it sound like I'd thrown a load of ball bearings in the rocker cover.
willows40
i put 10/40 in my 2000 last year and the oil light flicked on tick over changed it back to 20/50 and no sign of oil light since.cheers andy
shedmonkey
I had that problem when I used duckhams classic! (about 8 years ago on a high milage engine about 100k) changed back to a non duckhams 20-50 and it was fine ,but also worth putting a new OPS on and cleaning up the pressure relief vlave etc ,that engine chugged around for another 20,000miles
Deleted User
Many a classic car has had it's engine wrecked by using a 'superior' modern 10/40 oil.Don't do it!!! The clearance in older engines are much looser than a modern engine and they need that thick 20/50 oil.
Fuzzy Harris
Duchams 20/50 every time, not to expensive either.
