aar0sc
Can anyone tell me whether 155/80 R13s will fit my Spitfire? '77 1500; currently shod with 175/80 R13s. Cheers, Aaron
James
I seem to remember that's as close to the original size as you can get.
aar0sc
Perfect! ;DConsider my car shod with a set of four new tyres at the cost of a few pints ;)

Richard B
155/80 x 13 on 4-1/2J will be fine. As said earlier standard fitment on a Spitfire MkIV.If you have 5-1/2J wheels then you can go to 175/70 x 13.
thescrapman
AaronJust make sure they are car tyres not van ones.about 40% of the 155/80-13 tyres on the market are van ones, looking at the quick check I just did.CheersColin
aar0sc
Underneath the hub cap it says 45, so I think its 4 1/2". Turns out I've got 155s on already, its my spate with a 20 year old 175 on it!
aar0sc
*spare. Here's the stamp on the wheel:
rotoflex
That's a 4.5j.Check all the wheels, you could have a mix of 5j and 4.5j sizes (maybe even 5.5j's which seem to cover the landscape there). Somebody may have wrecked a 5j and gotten a 4.5j for a spare, or gotten a set of 4 5j's and put the 4.5j in as a spare, etc.
Freebird
Check out this rather excellent and very informative website. There is a section on wheels and tyres (spelt tires in US fashion)http://auskellian.com/paul/links_files/performance_enhancements.htmI think I will save up and fit 175/70/13s to Joe's Spit.Glen
Clive
Barely any cost difference between the 2 sizes, mainly as the 175 are much more common fitment these days. For competitive price Toyota 350's seem rather good, especially if you fan self fit :P
