HNJ1N
All, First, Happy and healthy New Year :). Having refurbed a set of TR6 wheels i want to put a set of winter tyres on them. I'm not getting very far.., has anyone else fitted a set in 185/70/15 size, there are plenty of 185/65/15 but nothing, that i can find, with a 70% profile, thanks in advance, cheers, Laurence
Andy Flexney
Happy New YearI seem to remember the 185/70 - 15 profile is basically only for commercial vehicles and if you find some they will be far too hard for the weight of a Triumph. I ran 165- 15 winter tyres on TR6 rims when doing winter rallies in the TR3. The narrower tyre is much better in deep snow or on ice.AndyF
HNJ1N
Hi Andy, Would 165/80/15,using TR6 wheels, work on a big saloon?. I did find some chunky vredesteins in this size, cheers, Laurence
thescrapman
LaurenceAre you avoiding the 65 profile tyres to meet MSA regs??They are allowing 65 profiles from now on in a 15inch size due to people using van tyres to try to find 70's at an acceptable price.CheersColin
GT6DavidMK1
You might find it difficult to find winter now any way they tend to be available from October/November as manufacturers only supply a small amount to the UK. We always advise customers enquiring about winters tyres to order early the better ;)David.
HNJ1N
I'm sure you are right David ;), will continue to look.I hadn't considered the MSA regs Colin, but thanks for that info. I already have a set of all season vredestein classics, these have the 70 profile which seem to look correct, to my eye, in Mk1 wheel arches, cheers, Laurence
