Andy Borris
Will MK2 rear brake cylinders fit and work correctly on a MK1 back plate?I ask, because what I thought was a MK2 rear suspension and brake system on my MK1 car now seems to be a hybrid of MK2 arms and MK1 brakes! So the new cylinders I've purchased are wrong, or will they work? And am I right in assuming that all MK2 cars had self adjusting rear shoes?ThanksAndy
Nick Jones
Mk2 have self adjust mechanism though often not very effective. Mk1 manual adjust. Not sure whether cylinders are interchangeable but pretty sure they have different part nos so probably not.Ironically, if you want to run big wheels you'd be better off with Mk1 rear end.Nick
Richard B
It's a common conversion. MkII trailing arms and longer half-shafts (allows the Datsun conversion to fit as well) and MkI brakes (easier to adjuster)
