MTFC Derek
I need help! I have a bitsa Triumph Herald with a 1300 Spit engine in. Now, it went into my garage to sit out the winter and was perfectly fine but when I tried to fire it up it was not getting fuel to the engine. I inspected this and got to the point where fuel is in the line but the mechanical pump will not work. I bought a new one - same problem. Strangely I can hand operate the pump off of the engine and pumps fuel from tank to carb. So I am thinking that the cam in the engine is not operating the pump but how can that happen over winter. I am at a loss.
yorkshire_spam
Do you have an inline filter? When my Spitfire was laid up the rubber seals in the filter shrank, so the pump was just pulling air and no fuel was reaching the carbs. Maybe you have a similar problem? A perished section of rubber hose allowing the pump to pull air?
