jonandcol
hi jon here, i have got some 5.5 13" wheels and want to know the best size tyre to put on them without rubbing too much can anyone suggest a tyre size for me? cheers all
Clive
175/70 13 a good choice for several reasons:Same overall radius, so speedo stays correct (ha ha ha)Still enough sidewall height to allow flex, needed with non-rotoflex carsLook right too.alternatively 185/60 fit OK, but a bit low profile I reckon, looks too thin, may work if th ecar is lowered a lot. Also more chance of rubbing.
MarkB
Really depends on the offset of the wheel and what model car you are fitting them to. I have the Dunlop 5.5 steel wheels fitted with 175 70 13 tyres. They rub back and front on my Mk2 roto flex GT6 but are ok on spitfire Mk3. There is more clearance on the later Mk4 Spit and Mk3 GT6. But offset is what will determine how wide you can go.Blue
jonandcol
i should have said that it is for a mk3 gt6 sorry.....jon
Howard81
My Dolly Sprint came with 185/60/13 tyres, and I have to say they looked a bit odd - far too small for the wheelarches and they messed up the speedo reading. Original spec 175/70/13's now fitted which are much better.
