175/70 13 a good choice for several reasons:
Same overall radius, so speedo stays correct (ha ha ha)
Still enough sidewall height to allow flex, needed with non-rotoflex cars
Look right too.

alternatively 185/60 fit OK, but a bit low profile I reckon, looks too thin, may work if th ecar is lowered a lot. Also more chance of rubbing.

Really depends on the offset of the wheel and what model car you are fitting them to. I have the Dunlop 5.5 steel wheels fitted with 175 70 13 tyres. They rub back and front on my Mk2 roto flex GT6 but are ok on spitfire Mk3. There is more clearance on the later Mk4 Spit and Mk3 GT6. But offset is what will determine how wide you can go.

My Dolly Sprint came with 185/60/13 tyres, and I have to say they looked a bit odd - far too small for the wheelarches and they messed up the speedo reading. Original spec 175/70/13's now fitted which are much better.

i should have said that it is for a mk3 gt6 sorry.....jon

You will have no problems with Clives suggestion of 175/70/13 tyres on a MK3 GT6 on standard wheels and probably no problem with after market wheels either unless the have the wrong offset.

If you  already I suggest you take a look at this thread
