In your shoes the above will be fine with RobSport stocking these.  I have also used TRW pads in my Stag with good results (CAS sell these).  If you really wish to get the best braking from a stock MkII setup I can recommend the Mintex M1144s, but cheap these are not (Around £70).  They do give one quite a bit more confidence in braking though!

Stag and 2000 use the same pads, Looking at the box my pads came in mgb`s also use the same pads,
Have greenstuff on my mg, had them on for about 6 years now, only thing i find is that if you take it steady and use the brake gently the brake lose there bite, It only takes a bit of spirited driving to bring them back
