chrisJA
So our 2500TC auto has finally arrived home this lunchtime on a transporter after retiring on the last day of the 10CR in France with an intermittent fuel or spark problem. Anyway as we backed it off the transporter we found it now has no brakes although they were fine when we left it. Brake pedal just goes to the floor with virtually no resistance really. Know nothing about brakes so not sure where to start?
Raider
First - glad the car is back. There wasn't a Mk2 2000 registered PMW with it was there Brakes - check if there is any fluid in chamber. If not then there is a leak somewhere. A brake pipe ripped off or joint broken during the recovery ? Check to see if there is lots of brake fluid somewhere and that will lead to the problem
Richard B
Quoted from Raider A brake pipe ripped off or joint broken during the recovery ? That would be my suspicion. Do as Raider say's, top up the fluid and see if it is leaking, check the 4 wheel arches to see if a hose/pipe was broken whilst tying the vehicle down during recovery. chrisJA
Sorry Martin, ours was the last car on it (apparently it had been sharing the trailer with a Jag and a Citroen). Thanks for the clues.
Radders
If there's no leaking from any of the wheel areas, check behind the top of the brake pedal. It may be leaking from the master cylinder. The seals go in them.
