sbarc
Got them for my 73 GT6......not the original size, but I want to run slightly wider tires for safety sake. Nice wheels, no rust for $139 for 4.I also have some 4.5 rims if I don't like the 5" rims, but I suspect I'll like the look of the 5" rims more. One more piece for the GT6 puzzle. 8)
rotoflex
The UK'ers are giggling at us scrounging 5j wheels when they are awash in 5.5j oval hole steelies over there.
willcolumbine
A wouldn't say we were awash with them, but I do use a single 5.5j steelie I had lying around as a hose reel!

sbarc
Yup.....5.5 would be nice....but I have to be realistic.....no fun l,iving way the heck over here.
GT6Craig
How much you reckon it is to post some wheels from the uk to us? Ill be gitting rid of my 5.5's soon
sbarc
I'd hate to think but I am interested in them if you are selling them. I paid $30 to ship these 4 rims about 2,000 miles across the US by Fed Ex......which seemed very cheap to me.
sbarc
Apparently four 5" rims weights 62lbs.....so the 5.5" will be a bit more.Fed Ex wants $283 to air freight the four 5.5" rims from London to the West coast of Canada. THey won't ship anything by freight shipping if it is under 150lbs.Royal mail will send them for a price of $560 for 26 day delivery to $750 for 2 day air shipment. There must be a cheaper way. npanne
Only if you happen to know someone who is already getting something large (ie a whole car, or a shipping container) who would be willing to carry the rims for you, but it would equal a lot of hassle for them.I'd be suprised if you can better the $280 price. GT6Craig
Id sooner pay for flights and put them through as extra luggage! There is five of them, and i do plan to replace them soon, well next 6 months at least! I have been given some other wheels by an old boy near me and i just need to see if they are the original ones - thats the only reason why im getting rid of them - they arent "proper" for my car! rotoflex
I think sbarc is looking for the silver oval-hole 5.5j steelies that look like the ones that came on the Mk3 GT6. I've seen some 5.5j's on ebay that were the regular steel wheels that used hubcaps, so be sure what's what!
sbarc
Rotoflex is correct about the type of wheels I'm after......5.5's steelies with the oval holes would be nice but I suspect the cost of shipping would be too high.
GT6Craig
these ones?
sbarc
Yup....those be the ones!!!
mikeyb
for a mk1/mk2 to keep it looking original, you want the earlier type that takes hubcaps - same as I've got on my mk3 Spit. There is still a good market for the later oval holed type though! They would be more in keeping with a mk3 GT
sbarc
I've got a '73 Mk3 GT6.......to be honest....the 5.5" wheels seem to fill out the rear wheel wells a bit too much. I think I'll stick with the 5" wheels I just bought.
