GT6MK3
Seeing as I'm at the other end of the world, it's going to be quicker to make some than wait for postage. I can get Teflon rod across the counter. Can anyone help out with the dimensions?Cheers,Craig
CharlieB
18mm diameter by 5mm thick for my spring (the rubber ones were 6mm thick but compressed more than the nylon I used).
GT6MK3
Cheers Charlie.18 mill diameter. If the 5 mill total thickness (Including the base and top), or simply the top? Do you have the base diamater?Im assuming (from photo's I've seen) that the buttons have a wide top and a narrow base that fits into the hole in the spring.Only example I can find is on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Triumph-Spitfire-Leaf-Spring-Buttons_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem23061cabaaQQitemZ150426397610QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesAnyone?Craig
CharlieB
The rubber buttons on my spring which I copied were a simple disk 18mm diameter by 6mm thick.Other springs may have other types of buttons? The ones in the ebay listing, apart from having a wider bit, look much thicker, perhaps to compensate for a sagging spring?http://www.canleyclassics.com/?xhtml=xhtml/diagram/spitfire1500rearsuspensionroadspring.html&xhtmlcatalogue=xhtml/catalogue/spitfire1500.html&category=axlessuspensiondriveshaftsandwheels&xsl=diagram.xsl

junkuser
I used early Holden ones in the Spit. The button that goes into the spring had to be reduced in diameter a little.Have a look around, there may be others.
99176
Simple disc does the job.Well worth making the area of leaf above the button as smooth as possible (really worth while if swingspring).I then wipe all over with silicon grease (v. expensive) and wrap whole thing with tape.
