Kato Dolomite
I need to replace one of the rear wheel studs on my Sprint. I have removed the halfshaft but I cant see how to get into the back of the bearing part to replace the stud.Anyone done this before? Thanks. 8)
Mad Mart
Yes, I've done it a few times. Unfortunately you have to undo the castled nut & push the shaft out (usually with a 10 ton press). Or if you want to cheat, you can peel back the backplate (155544), change the studs & then tap the plate back into shape again (not that it will look that pretty afterwards but it is hidden. mikeyb
I looked at mine when it was apart - how easy does 155544 come off the rear of the hub - it looked crimped on to me ?
Mad Mart
Yes they are crimped over but it doesn't take much to tap them back.
Kato Dolomite
Thanks for the info. I think I will go with bending the plate back and then tap back into shape. Thanks again. ;D
