JRidout
Guys,I need a pair of reconditioned/new type 12 calipers. I've looked on eBay and nothing so far and Rimmers are £60 a piece. Any ideas? I have tried to repair them myself but the pistons are seized and I have no idea how to remove them.CheersJR
Nick Jones
Could consider upgrading to Type 14s maybe? £I've always got the pistons out by reconnecting them to the car and using the master cylinder to pump them out. Others have talked of connecting to a grease gun and using that to pump out the pistons.Actually, by the time you've bought pistons and seal kits you're not going to be very far short of £ 60 anywayCheersNick

Pete Lewis
you can get brand new type 14 cheaper than recon little 12s if you go down this route make sure the back of the hub is a machine turned beveled edge, if its just cast the hub fouls the slighly largerbody of a type 14,Pete
Pete Lewis
the hub with a machined bevel on the flange

JRidout
I had a look at mine hubs last night and they are much deeper and not bevelled? Does this mean I have to replace the Hub? CheersJR
heraldcoupe
The bevelled edge was introduced with the type 14 calipers. The un-machined hub of the earlier cars sometimes clears the type 14, sometimes it doesn't. Statistically, one side would probably work, while the other won't! The modification is a simple piece of machining, or secondhand late hubs are quite plentiful,Cheers,Bill.
